In 2020, stress, depression and anxiety accounted for 51% of all work-related ill health (HSE 4 Nov 2020)

In a recent survey of construction workers, 73% said their employer was not doing enough to support them with mental health issues

What is EAP?

The Employee Assistance Programme is a service offered by employers to improve mental health and well being of their employees.

It is intended to assist employees manage any problems that might be adversely impacting on their abilities to perform their job role. These problems could be work related, personal, family, health related or anything else that may be troubling them.

EAP offers short term face to face counselling or telephone counselling if required, with a fully trained, insured counsellor.

How does EAP Work?

It is 6-8 sessions of focused work on the immediate presenting issue. The first session is an assessment session with then 7 sessions of counselling.

Once EAP has been accessed by an employee, it cannot be re-accessed within a year from completion of sessions.

Your EAP counsellor can sign post other services that may be of benefit to your employees.

Additional services can be offered, including staff training for mental health awareness and crisis support following work related/accident/death & reports throughout the year.

Contact Jayne for more details.

What’s the Benefits?

EAP has proven to reduce absenteeism, increase motivation and engagement.

The programme aids employees to feel valued, listened to and supported.

In times of stress people isolate themselves, loosing contact with the outside world, counselling gives people the opportunity to reconnect and re-establish contact in a safe way. It is a place where anything can be said, and explored, the fears we hold which occupy our thoughts. When we carry these thoughts in isolation they exert great dominance and create distraction, the old adage of a problem shared is quite true. When we give voice to a problem, it can be like shinning a light on it, removing its power.

Employers benefit from a stronger, happier and more productive workforce, with increased employer loyalty.

We picked Jayne Myers because of her reputation, we have had numerous staff see her and the feedback from them has been excellent. Many people are wary of going to a councillor but all of our staff who have seen Jayne have been really helped by her. We have no hesitation in continuing to use Jaynes services.”
